The Dare

The Dare

A Poem by flash68lb
"

I wrote this with the thought that most of us dont get to express those parts of ourselves that no one else even knows excist's, and mabey for some that is better, and others a little frightening, "The Dare" is a challenge to let some of that

"

Art...

  Tis not oil meeting canvas,

Nor verse, lilting to ones ear,

It is not water but tinted,

flowing gently across paper,

  Or notes plucked from strings,

floating through the air,

It is not marble hewn by hand,

Or clay fresh from the kiln,

  Metal, oblong, square,

hanging here and there,

Nor is it the intertwining of two,

their appearance of floating and more,

Or time frozen with a flash,

enlarged in the future,

Art...

Is but the soul made tangible,

A mere glimpse, expression layed bare,

  Bindings questionably broken...

    Lines irraversably crossed...

      Truths boldly told...

Artist's...

  Do you dare...

Master... How is it that you hear a grasshopper at my feet?
Qui-chang, How is it that you do not?

As you can tell this poem reminds me of the old t.v. show (Kung-Fu)
The last stanza is on point. The whole poem is very well written.
This poem lends itself to spoken word.
I would like to hear this piece at an Open Mic night on stage.
