Only the Blues Tonight.

Only the Blues Tonight.

A Poem by Kadie Tee
"

Bluesy.

"

Muscles twitchin’
And a burn in my eyes;
No cocaine fuels the chills
An’ the hairs that stand right up
In rushin’ waves right on up
 My arms, legs and spine.

I see the shadow comin’,
But I don’t wanna see.
I hear the raspy reaper
Moanin’ deep and loud
Chantin’ some ole Baptist hymn.
Hey, don’t wanna hear nothin’
But the blues tonight, babe.

Now a slow pulsin’ vibe
Like none I felt before,
Punches at my ticker
Bangs against my soul.
No heroin charges the blood,
The heated veins openin’ up wide;
Electric blues highway four lanes wide
Just under the surface of
Some old pale blue skin.

I see his cold eyes;
He’s heat hungry
And I’m hot, child.
He’s callin’ to me
Deep and loud.
Ain’t got no choice, babe;
Ain’t got no voice, babe
To sing the blues tonight.

He gettin’ closer now
But that don’t  matter no more;
No slow-roll joint
Can rest these bones.
My body croonin’ the blues,
Ear deep in muddy waters;
Come on baby take me
To that righteous ole place
In the deep velvet blue sky.

Ah, the Blues. You gotta love that place they take you. The trumpets, the bass guitar, the deep voice singing of sorrow and pain in such a way they can only make you feel good. And it is only the Blues that can touch your soul in such a way that it goes straight through you and becomes the blood in your veins. You either love them or you hate them. And I love them. And I love how you took us on your trip with the Blues. Fantastic.
