Music In My Walls

Music In My Walls

A Poem by Xye Nelson

I have tripped,

Fallen, a sharp helix, down

Over my own cold feet.

The twinkle lights cast

A florescent glow, as I sit

Kneeling, crying, murmering

On the floor.

listening to conversation.

Their conversations.

The things they say.

Example:

Books discussing adjectives

With the desk

And slender figurines verbalize verbs

Give "For instance" scenarios.

While black shirts sob with me

Foe the less of combination, decreasing weight.

Presence.

I try

I stand

On shakey knees,

Once so stable

So steady

So sure

And collapse

Fall, tumble

Back to my twinkle lit haven

My gushing collectables

Even more alone

Than the first time down.

A very different poem on music. A lot of personification. Very nice :)

You interweave the musical imagery very creatively here. The ending read like a description of life getting a little mundane-- nice poem anyway you interpret it.
