Longing for Greatness

This is a piece of poem that I collaborated with some friends in a spoken word Ministry at my church..

"So I go back to the hook

that Jesus died for my space

and my face

stays glued to his book."

 

 

Longing for greatness in the world is

 

not the level I aspire to attain.

 

The vision of the world is

 

to elevate oneself.

 

But I

 

desire what the human eye

 

cannot behold.

 

Where this flesh must submit to his

 

Spirit.

 

"So I go back to the hook

that Jesus died for my space

and my face stays glued to his book"

 

 

Author's Note

A couple of weeks ago, I did a collaboration with some friends.. this is what I said in my part... I love the way the words took their form the more I practiced it to memorize it, I tried to put it together every time I paused I went into the next line.. Hope you can hear it in your mind.

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. I can almost hear you reading each line to a crowd of people. I am sure they take in each word and can see how much thought you put into these words.

I am inspired by your spiritual poetry. At times when I may feel down, I can read a poem or two of yours and feel better.
