Hair Growing in My Ears

Hair Growing in My Ears

A Poem by flaco

She bounced into the coffee shop early one Saturday morning

Two steps ahead of Mom

Only 5 or 6 , cute as a button ,  a smile that lit up the whole store

She hopped up on the couch where we were sitting

My wife and I

Greetings, names, pleasantries exchanged  --My heart was hers

Then quickly, bewilderment, mixed with a bit of disgust filled her face

What had happened, I wondered

Do you know " she exclaimed!! " that you have HAIR growing out of your ears

Mom turned red with embarrassment, my wife laughed out loud

we all smiled

This is a great example of turning everyday disappointments into an entertaining anecdote that makes us laugh! Great use of details & suspense & dynamic verbs. Even tho this is a familiar situation, you've made it feel original -- the only story like this we've ever heard! *smile* Fondly, Margie

...a most strange encounter for a child. I can imagine the look on her face - priceless! How sweet!
