bees on lavenderA Story by flacoLavender patch
I stopped to pick a bunch of lavender at a u- pick field near my house. Late June " summer has just started and the lavender is in full bloom . sunny skies, fluffy white clouds with a couple hundred plants leading in to a field of wheat. It’s a beautiful sight and speaks to summer in its finest. As
I get out to pick I notice-no I hear them first- hundreds or thousands of big
round bees- bumble bees I called them as a kid "flying in ,out and around never
staying at one flower for too long . The noise they make is a symphony of sound and the hum can be felt as well as heard. All the same instrument played to perfection The shed to the side has some already picked bunches for $7 that were just picked that morning but I decide to grab some snipers and cut my own . I walk to a row out in the middle of the patch and as I start " I worry for a moment about getting stung but soon realize that the bees just go around me to the next flower. I may be in the way a bit but not enough to slow them down. And I know I do not smell as nice or look as appetizing as all those purple mounds. I wonder why they don’t feed at any one stalk for long- do they only want a taste, do they move on after eating the best of the best or-- I think-- is it that they are just Bees and prone to keep moving. It seems obvious that they are happy or in their element , or maybe they realize that this is as good as it gets " for a bee. a field of purple, the scent of lavender- thousands of fat bees at the beginning of summer
Really its as good as it gets for me as well- © 2018 flacoReviews
