Save My Life

an attempt to write a cryptic poem about the environment. it got published in my high school's literary magazine my senior year. (2000)

Take my gifts but use them well
I don't ask for much in return
But please spare me this agonizing execution.

Plant a family on my life
Grow a business over my life
Please leave the dirt lying around my life
And give me roots to save my life

Throw shapen metal in my tears
Hang my children in your house
I'm running out of love

I'll take my thoughts and bury them deep
And when the population doubles
Dig them up and cry as you remember me
