Mitch Winehouse regrets arguing with Amy

The 'Back to Black' singer died in 2011, aged 27, from alcohol poisoning, and her father now admits that he and Amy's mum Janis, 59, did not deal with her chaotic lifestyle in the healthiest way.

He reflected: ''She couldn't talk to me about what she was going through.

''I just screamed and shouted at her. That's how I dealt with her problems. And that's obviously not a wise way to deal with it.''

Since her death, however, Mitch has made a conscious decision to approach the situation in a positive manner.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: ''I had to try to be positive - I didn't think I had a choice. It was either that or jump into bed and pull the duvet over my head.

''When you experience loss you don't have to do anything specific to remember them. They're with you all the time.

''We don't have to be in a particular place to have a little cry and a little laugh. Every day we're thinking about her. Everything we do is about her.''

Mitch and his ex-wife set up The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which raises money to help young people affected by drug and alcohol misuse.
