Afloat

Afloat

A Poem by James Paulin
"

Albert's Poetry Cafe ~ Keeping the dream alive ~ Phrase contest.

"

deep

waters,

keep treading

and learn to swim

without doubt spreading

about current trends grim

pulling down too many heading

toward promised panacea slim.

fear of drowning keeps people dreading

being like children into river hurled

for we are drifting in the stream of the world

This is beautiful. I really love the structure and the rhythm of this one. It flows just like a river stream. The imagery is absolutely vivid and wonderful to envision. What a great metaphor for life and the world we live in. So true and real, especially the fear of drowning, your metaphor for that one was very hard hitting. Well done!

Great analogy penned here Jim. I loved how you used the "phrase" in this wonderful poem. Thank you for "Keeping the Dream Alive"!
