A Poem by James Paulin

this time, recollection was all sensual

the weather was rarely so beautiful

an old park lay waiting

-

swings with squeaky chains

plank teeter-totters

slides and the spin around

-

swinging high

ascent to descent

leg pump whirling

-

movements forgotten

of playgrounds

mild breezes

-

flooding back

came

joy

"this time, the recollection was all sensual"......must have been a time that you went to enjoy the park with a young sweetheart. How carefree and happy those days were! Can still hear the stampede and the words of "last one on the swings is a rotten egg." This brings back many memories, like doubling on a swing. Great poem that instills that sense of freedom lost.

Childhood memories always give us a nostalgic feeling, playgrounds, swings, old friends and time spend playing getting scolding from mom , calling us back home to study, still we would beg for 5 more mins to play.... now thinking of all that makes us smile.... lovely memories to call back... Thanks for entering the contest..

You use great imagery for the reader to see what you are describing. I think you poem is very interesting. There are many strong lines in your poem and most are created with interesting language. Good job.

I liken this poem to the feel of snapshots taken on a near-perfect day. The poem is wholly descriptive, and metaphorically sensous...

i remember those days of swinging steps though they have passed for sometimes, and yes, flooding back, came joy :)
