Autumn Symphony

 

Prelude flitter opens in chartreuse, lime and lemon

Gold, carrot, pumpkin, tomato and persimmon

Vibrant red, yellow and orange provide just intonation

Splashes progress rhythmically into full coloration

Scarlet, saffron, mustard, jade and vermilion 

Crimson, amber, goldenrod, corn and cinnamon

Foliage jubilation cacophonies in brillant transition

Embellishment enhances steady harmonic progression

Umber, eggplant, ochre and forest

Maroon, sienna, burgundy and rust

Muted tones descend crescendo fury

Woodwinds ease leaf flutter to scurry

I see and hear the colors of Autumn, and see the progression of the colors as the song goes on. I love the combination of color with the music, this is the first poem I have read that combines these two senses, so unique. The glorious and beautiful bursts of natures palette of colors. A virtual feast of the most magnificent hues of stroked onto natures canvas. But it only brings the brightness that will quickly faded to winter's darkercolors and its coating of the the canvas in the proverbial flurry of white. The autumn colors herald the coming of a time that says hibernate! Beautiful poetic tribute to the auntumn's gift of color before the subduing palette of winter arrives.
