My hindered rest

My hindered rest

A Poem by Jason

Who casts these shadows,
That force me to wake?
My dreams are spoiled;
My rest now they take.

Damn the light!
For dividing the darkness,
And splitting the contrast,
Causing my sleep to digress;

To wake a weeping,
sleepy eye, sleeping;
shut lids that hide the worn;
awakens now and greets the morn

Sleep is my existence!
Now I wait for this sun to set,
Light shines in upon my face;
And through this hole in my casket.

That's the kinda thing that I would write if I were good at writing poetry!

Heh, so this is where the ironic twists from typical life to beautiful death begin, huh? And, of course, like always... you got me.

I noticed that your style has changed a bit. I think this one has much more rhythm than your other work. This one even has an interesting detail about the ending result... "this hole in casket"... that was creative; I've never heard that before. lol!

Excellent piece, buddy. :)

To be awoken from a dream you were probably enjoying, utter frustration. I would let you sleep so you could enjoy the rest. : ) Nice rhyme scheme and choice of words. Does the subject of this poem live to sleep for escape, does he have fantasy filled dreams that are better than what this world offers. Oh so many possibilities. I love different options. Good write!

Intriguing and dark. it doesn't bore me to death. it doesn't really have to do with the theme of the contest. wonderful write though. :) I like the closure of this peice. Fun!
