Waterlogged Mind

Waterlogged Mind

A Poem by Lynne S. Cygansky

I’ve always wanted to be a sailor,
To just grab a boat and go.

To cruise out to the aqua-blue sounds
And up to the arctic where ice is omnipresent

I’ll see a whale pass by once or twice
Blowing water like a geyser, spraying me with salt

Down to the tropics where all the tourists collect,
I’ll take a snooze on the deck of my “Waterloo”

Maybe sail the Seine or the Rhine or the Nile,
The ebb and flow of the waves lulling me to sleep each night

Until then I’ll settle for land
And dream of the sea, my waterlogged mind in tow

A pleasant fantasy, this one. But if you really want to see the Arctic, I suggest you go now, while it's still there.

Sadly, you're correct. Hopefully I get to go someday!
