Anne started changing into her uniform, when she heard the sound of students rushing into the locker room. Girls giggling and joking around. Talking about who kissed who. What to wear for the school dance. All the normal teenage girl talk. Anne wanted to puke. She didn’t care about any of those things. She would prefer to be in her dream world. Where everything was peaceful and content. One of the girls came up to the locker next to hers. Anne didn’t pay any attention to her. She knew no one liked her. The other girls continued with their gibberish.
“So Sally, I heard you and Brian were going to the dance together.” One of the girls said. Sally was next to Anne’s locker, she turned toward whomever spoke to her.
“Whatever you heard Kristie it’s true. Brian asked me I’ve had my eye on him for a while now. I was surprised he asked me because I didn’t think he liked me.” Sally explained.
Anne was listening to the whole conversation. It was enough to make her want to gag. She finished dressing and went into the gym room where Mrs. Daggerfield was there waiting. There were mats laid out on the floor. Various sporting equipment surrounded the room. Mrs. Daggerfield walked over to Anne with a concerned look on her face.
“Is something troubling you Anne? I may be a gym teacher but I’m also a student counselor in my spare time. I’m here to listen if you have anything you wish to discuss.”
“Thanks Mrs. Daggerfield, I just have a lot on my mind that I am dealing with now. Maybe someday I will tell you but right now I want to deal with it on my own.” Anne said confidently. Mrs. Daggerfield put her hand on Anne’s shoulder and said.
“You don’t have to be alone in whatever is troubling you. Just remember, that I am here after school whenever you wish to talk. Alright?” Mrs. Daggerfield said smiling.
“Ok I’ll remember that.” Anne said with a little smile.
Just then, the girls from the locker room came filing into the gym room one by one. Mrs. Daggerfield blew her whistle.
“OK everybody inside I want a single row formed arms length apart.” Mrs. Daggerfield shouted. The girls began forming into a single row with Anne in the middle.
“Today we are going to do something a little different. I want everyone to participate. One of the most important things to physical fitness is, the ability to exercise your mind along with your body. What we are going to do is a meditation exercise. I want everyone to lie down on the mats. There will be absolutely no talking during this exercise. As you lie there, I want you to close your eyes and listen to the sound of my voice.”
Anne closed her eyes she listened to what Mrs. Daggerfield was saying.
“Alright now, I want you all to picture in your mind that you are sitting in an empty theater. In front of a blank screen, what you place upon that screen is up to you. Allow your mind to explore whatever world you want to see on that screen.”
Anne began seeing someone familiar to her………..
Natto waited for his father and sister to return home. He assisted his mother with the meal she was preparing.
(mother, do you think father went with the rest of the scouts to search for the hunters?) Natto said speaking telepathically.
(I do not know my son, if he had he would have informed me. Perhaps I may be able to communicate with him using the crystal.) Kala, Natto’s mother explained.
(Let me try mother, if he is still in the village I may be able to reach him.)
(No Natto, your powers are not developed enough yet to reach beyond the village. If your father did go with the scouts he could be miles from here. Allow me to navigate I want to know exactly where he is. If he is alright or if he is hurt.)
(Alright mother, whichever you think is best.) Natto agreed. Kala and Natto went over to the crystal area, sat next to each other on the pillows. Kala focused her telepathic abilities into the crystal. She and the crystal both began to glow a light blue color. A faint image emerged from the crystal. It was Katto. He was lying in the forest surrounded by hunters. It appeared as if he were injured. He was covered in blue colored blood.
(Katto! Can you sense me?) Kala asked struggling to communicate. There was silence. (Katto!? Please communicate with me.) Again there was silence.
(Perhaps he’s too far away mother) Natto suggested. (Yes Natto, it is a possibility.) Kala wondered though. She knows how deadly hunter strikes can be. (For now Natto we must not give up hope that your father will come home safe.) Kala explained.
(Yes mother, but what of this human? I can’t leave the village not knowing that father could be injured out there or worse.) Natto said, while beginning to pace around the crystal.
(Natto, your father will be fine. He has the other scouts with him. I’m sure everything will be alright.) Kala said.
(Alright mother, if you’re sure about this. I will leave for the ocean clan in the morning. I should arrive by nightfall.) Natto explained.
Kala walked over toward Natto. She placed her hand on his right shoulder. Instead of communicating to him telepathically she spoke with her mouth.
“Natto my son, may your journey take you to new heights of understanding and wisdom.”
“Thank You Mother.” Natto said

The next morning Natto arose before the sunrise. He left the village without saying goodbye to anyone. He wanted to start his journey very early to avoid as many hunters as he possibly could. The river led him downstream to a large clearing. The river widened and began to pick up speed, Natto could see up ahead white water foaming along the river. He knew the shape of his canoe would cause the boat to capsize. He quickly grasped the sides of the canoe with both hands. He closed his eyes, the entire canoe began to change shape, becoming a kayak. He continued down the river, water splashing and whipping around the craft. Trying to steer the craft in the right direction Natto knew he needed a paddle of some kind. Along the riverbank there were reeds of bamboo and tall grasses. Exerting himself he forced the kayak to steer into the riverbank. He grabbed onto a bamboo rod and yanked it loose. He was too exhausted to exert anymore energy to transform the bamboo, instead he plunged it into the river bottom. Steering in that manner, allowed him to control the speed to which he traveled downstream.
Gradually, the river calmed down as he traveled further. Calm enough to where the river seemed it was not moving at all. Up ahead he saw a large clearing, in the distance there were rock formations that carved out the silhouette of the sky. He realized that must be where Thalo the wise one resided.  It was late afternoon, the sun starting to set behind the rock formations. Leaving a shadow along the ground. Natto landed on the river bank, he got out of the kayak and pulled it ashore. He decided to make camp, it would be another days travel to the cave where Thalo lived.
He looked around for materials to build a fire. There were trees and shrubs in sporadic locations. He walked over to where there was a large juniper tree with sagebrush surrounding it. (This ought to be a great place to make camp for the night.) Natto thought to himself, he gathered what branches and twigs were on the ground surrounding the tree. He then collected rocks that were lying along the riverbank, placing them in a circle to make a fire pit. He began making a kindling bundle with the small twigs and dry grass clippings. Then, he pulled out of his traveling pouch two crystals, one was red the other yellow. He set the crystals next to each other alongside the kindling bundle. Then he pulled out a small white crystal shard from a special compartment in his travel pouch. He waved the white crystal across the tops of the two other colored crystals. The colored crystals reacted to the white crystal, causing the red crystal to heat up. Sparks began jumping from the yellow crystal as it reacted to the white one. The kindling bundle began to smolder. Natto bend down and blew short quick puffs of air to get the bundle to ignite. Smoke rose from the bundle more and more, enveloping the crystals that were lying next to it. In one instant, the bundle ignited. Natto placed larger twigs and sticks one by one to feed the fire. He used one of the sticks to move the colored crystals out of the way of the fire. He looked around for more things to use as fuel for the fire. There was a juniper tree about five hundred yards from where the camp was. In the distance he heard the sounds of hunters howling and baying. When he reached the juniper tree there were large branches that have fallen and dried out. It was too heavy for him to pick up. He broke off as many twigs and smaller sized branches to carry back to camp.

As Natto was walking back to camp, arms full of branches. He looked up at the moon that was rising over the horizon. It had a soft cream colored glow, and the wisps of clouds passed over it. Giving the clouds a translucency to them. The hunters that have been baying and howling seemed to be getting closer. Natto reached camp, set the pile of branches down near the fire. Which had died down a little by this time. He took a few of the branches breaking them in half before placing them in the fire.
As he was doing this, he heard a noise coming from the other side of the river. He quickly picked up his pouch and fished through it, pulled out a blue crystal. Then he picked up the white crystal that was lying on the ground next to the fire. Putting the two crystals in his right hand, the blue crystal reacted with the white one touching it. Causing the blue crystal to glow with a bright luminescence. By placing his left hand over his right he channeled the light towards the other side of the river. He looked around the far side of the riverbank to find what was making the noise. As he searched he continued to hear rustling from the bushes beyond the riverbank. He then began to walk very cautiously toward the river. He picked up a large stick that was two feet long and four inches in diameter lying along the riverbank. With the glowing crystals in his right hand and the stick in his left. He proceeded towards the sound coming from across the river. Suddenly a voice cried out from the bushes…………………….
“Alright everyone, time to get up.” Mrs. Daggerfield said in a loud voice. Just then, all the students that have been lying on the mats during the meditation exercise arose. They lazily yawned and stretched about. “You have ten minutes to change before the bell rings.” Mrs. Daggerfield replied. The students went back to the locker room. Anne felt a bit dazed as she stumbled towards the locker room. As she proceeded into the room towards her locker she couldn’t help thinking about what she dreamt about.

Very nice, thus far! It's a little awkward in places but I'm sure that's probably due to the draft nature. You may think this a bit odd but what caught and kept my attention was the nature of the girl's daydreams (more like visions or that hypnagogic state, just before sleep), the telepathy and the employment of crystals, levitation and matter transformation. All of these plot devices, while common in many stories, have been used in a way that seem to point to the possibility that there are numerous layers of reality at work within the plot; waiting to unfold before the mind's eye of the reader. There is a "promise" that the adventures of the beings have a purpose that is intertwined with the human girl. Somewhere their worlds may collide through some as yet undisclosed manner.

One questions the mother being's parenting style in places but at this point I think it's safe for us to suspend disbelief and chalk it up to cultural differences and perhaps powers that have yet to be revealed, as in the danger is present but manageable.

If you do decide to finish this you must promise to come back and have it proof-read and edited for the sake of your fans-to-be! :)

I'm just a b bit curious, what experience have you with crystal scrying? If any...

Thanks for the beginning of what could be an intriguing tale!
