Superlative Player

After a girl named Daisy loses her brother to a hurricane, she decides to take on his dream of becoming the best Gatnuke player ever.

It was a very cloudy day in the town of Kreadlevill, everyone was getting ready for the big storm that was coming that night except for Two children named Daisy and Eddie. Daisy and Eddie were twin brother and sister, they lived with their mean drunk uncle Heed because their parents murdered many years ago when Eddie and Daisy were only one year old. Daisy and Eddie were almost own their own most of the time, their uncle worked at a harbor and did not come home until late at night. They lived in an old house close to the harbor, it was good for uncle Heed but Daisy and Eddie's school house was on the other side of Kreadlevill, that means they have to walk a very long ways every day. Daisy and Eddie were walking home from school one day when they heard someone talking about the storm, "The storm is coming tonight they call it the Reaper Hurricane, it only comes around every fifty years and today is the day," The person said. "What time do you think it will start to come?" Daisy asked, "By the look of the clouds, I would say six o'clock this evening is when it should start to get close, although it could start to head the other way and it may not hit us at all," the person said, then Daisy and Eddie walked away. "We need to tell Uncle Heed,"Daisy said, "But he said never to go down to the harbor, and besides I don't think anything bad is going to happen," Eddie said.

As they were walking home They passed the Gatnuke club, and outside They saw a person standing outside. "Hey, Eddie!" The person Yelled, "Oh! hello Dave what can I help you with," Eddie said. "Don't act like you don't know," Dave said, "I'm sure I don't know what you want," Eddie said. "You stole my Golden Gatnuke piece and I want it back," Dave demanded. "Don't you remember we had a bet if I could beat you at Gatnuke you would give me your golden piece and I won, so I'm not giving it back," Eddie said. "How dare you, do you not realize I'm the number one champion!" Dave said, "You were the number one champion now you're just acting like a jerk," Eddie said. "Well, why don't we settle this right here right now!" Dave said,"Yeah let's do it," Eddie said. "No Eddie! we have to get home, or else Uncle Heed is going to be mad if we are not home before he is" Daisy said. "Fine Let's settle this tomorrow," Eddie said, "I will be waiting right here," Dave said, Daisy and Eddie walked off.

Later Daisy and Eddie were sitting in their room reading books when they heard a knock on their door. It was their uncle, "Children you need to get your things, we are leaving," Uncle Heed said. "Where are we going?" Eddie asked, "We are going somewhere out of town until the hurricane passes," Uncle Heed said. A few minutes later they were walking away from their house, "I wonder how long this storm is going to be here," Daisy thought. 

Later that night, they found a cabin that was somewhere in the outskirts of town. Daisy and Eddie were sitting on the floor of the cabin doing their homework, while their uncle was sitting at a table staring at a bottle. "I should just throw it out the window if I do I make a better relationship with Daisy and Eddie, I have been a terrible guardian," Uncle Heed thought. Then the cabin started to shake the rain started to become power powerful. The wind was growing more powerful and the thunder was becoming louder. "I'm tired of sitting around here, I think that this Reaper Hurricane is just a myth, I'm going back home," Eddie said. 'Wait Eddie don't go!" Uncle Heed said. "But I thought you said you did not care what happened to us," Eddie said, then he opened the door.The wind was so powerful and that it almost swept Eddie away. "I will see you later Daisy," Eddie said, he started walking away but the wind swept him off the and he threw off into the air. "NO! EDDIE!!!" Daisy shouted.

five years later Daisy and Uncle Heed moved into town, away from where they used to live, Uncle Heed gave up his drinking addiction and become a worker at a factory. But Daisy did not recover well, she had not smiled since that day when Eddie was swept away by the wind. She did not eat much, and she never talked much. That was the main reason they moved because the house that they were living in made Daisy think of Eddie every time she saw his empty bed and untouched books. The only thing she could enjoy was watching people play Gatnuke at the public Gatnuke club. Almost every day she would go there after school, and watch all of the great Gatnuke players in town play against each other.What is Gatnuke your wondering well I will tell you, Gatnuke is a game where two players have ten little statues of knights and they have a deck of cards. If someone draws a card that was a sword and a number on it that means they can move whatever the number is, and if it was a skull that means they have can take out the other players knight, that's Gatnuke back to the story. Daisy was sitting in a crowd of people watching when someone tapped her on the shoulder, it was the manager of the Gatnuke club. "Can I talk to you for a second?" He said. "Have you ever considered becoming a Gatnuke player?" he asked, "No I haven't, and I'm not sure if I want to," Daisy said. "Well if you ever decide to we are starting a Gatnuke class next month," He said, then he walked away. "I have never thought about it, maybe I should, Then I can fulfill Eddie's dream of becoming the best player in the world," Daisy thought.

  

Later that night Daisy and her uncle were having dinner, when Daisy asked, "Uncle Heed do you know anything about Gatnuke?". "Not much the only thing I know is that Eddie used to play it, why do you ask?" Uncle Heed asked, "I think I would like to learn how to play, Daisy said.

The next day Daisy was walking to school, when she passed the Gatnuke club she decided to stop by and tell the manager that she wanted to join. "Hello is anyone here," Daisy said, "Hello it is good to see you again, what can I help you with?" The Manager asked. "I thought about your offer and I would like to join the Gatnuke class," Daisy said, "We would be happy if you could join our class, I will tell Mr.Vine right away," The manager said. "Who is Mr.Vine?" Daisy asked, "Mr.Vine is going to teach you how to play Gatnuke, every student gets his or her own teacher, and Mr.Vine is yours," The manager said, "Oh My! I'm going to be late, I will be back to tonight," Daisy said as she ran out the door. 

Daisy could not focus in school, she was ready to learn how to play Gatnuke, for so many years she has always loved watching people play. Later at lunch, she was actually smiling, "What is going on? I have never seen you smile before," Daisy's friend Chad said. "I'm going to learn how to play Gatnuke tonight!" Daisy said, "Wow you are one brave soul, I don't think I would ever learn," Chad said. "What do you mean about brave?" Daisy asked, "What I mean is that Gatnuke is not just a game, it is a game that people bet almost anything they have just to prove that they are the best and most of the champion players are tough and they show no mercy to other players, so don't bet anything important because you're not getting it back," Chad said.

After School Daisy walked to the Gatnuke club, "Hello is anyone here," Daisy said, then she saw a person sitting at a table. "Excuse me do you know when the Gatnuke class starts?" Daisy asked, "Yes it started just a few minutes ago but no one has shown up," The person said. "I'm here to learn how to play Gatnuke my name is Daisy Ludio". "Oh! so you are Daisy my name is Dron Vine I will be teaching you everything you need to know about Gatnuke please have a seat," Dron said. "What makes you want to become a Gatnuke player?" Dron asked, "I want to become a player like my brother," Daisy said. "Oh I see have you ever asked your brother if he could teach you some things?" Dron asked. "No, he was killed by a hurricane five years ago years ago," Daisy said, "I'm sorry to hear that, don't worry I will teach you everything I know so you can become a champion like me," Dron said. "You are a champion!" Daisy said, "Yes! well, I was many years ago now that guy is," Dron said pointing to a poster. "That's Dave!" Dasiy thought, and it was, "I know this person he challenged my brother to a game, but he never got around to it," Dasiy exclaimed. "He is coming into town next month to pick someone to challenge," Dron said. "But I think he only picks other high-level players," Dron said. "I guess I need to level up fast," Dasiy said, "Wait! are you saying you want to challenge Dave?" Dron asked. "Yes I want to and I am going to do my best at learning," Dasiy said. "Ok the first thing you need is ten pieces, and here they are," Dron said he pointed to the table, and on the table were twenty little knights. "Then we have a deck of cards, and there are only twenty cards in it, each card has a picture on it. If you draw a card that has a sword on it that means you can take out one of my knights if you draw a card with a number on it that means you move that many times, if you draw a card that says pass that means you lose your turn, that's all there is to it," Dron said. "Let's play a game," Dron said, "You draw your card first," Dron said. Dasiy drew a card it had a three on it, she moved one of her knights three spaces. Then Dron drew a card with a four on it, he moved one of his knights four spaces, then Dasiy drew a card that had a sword on it, she placed it down on the table and took off Dron's knight he had moved. "Very good you are understanding now," Dron said, then he drew a card that had a five on it, he moved one of his knights five spaces. A few minutes later Dasiy had four knights left on the board, and Dron had six left on the board. Then Dron drew a card that had a nuke on it, "Oops I almost forgot it tell you something, this card here takes out every knight on the board," Dron said then he took off all of Dasiy's knights. "It's all over," Dron said. "You did good but you are not ready to play aginst a champion, come back next week and we can play some more," Dron said. Dasiy was almost speechless, she could not believe that she lost, "See you next week," Dron said, he walked out the door. "This one loss will not stop me from becoming a champion," Dasiy thought. 

 

One month later Daisy and Chad were walking to school when they passed the Gtanuke club, there was a big crowd of people standing around outside. "Hey what is everybody waiting for?" Daisy asked a person, "The champion Dave is in town and he is playing with anyone who wants to challenge him," The person said. "Now is my chance," Daisy thought, "I will be right back why don't you go away and go to school I will meet you there," Daisy said to Chad, "Alright," Chad said. 

Inside everyone was standing around to watch Dave play with a low-level player, then Dave one the game. "NO! I was so close," The low-level player exclaimed, "Well that's how the game goes now hand over your watch," Dave said. "Who wants to challenge me next," Dave said. For a moment no one said anything, then Daisy said, "I want to challenge you!". "Who was that?" Dave asked, Daisy, made her way through the crowd and said, "I did!". "And who are you?" Dave asked, "My name is Dasiy and I'm here to challenge you to the title of champion," Dasiy said. "Oh, really you think you are more skilled than me?" Dave asked, "I don't think, I know I'm more skilled than you," Daisy said, "OK let's play tomorrow night right here," Dave said. "You win you will become the champion, but if I win you will never be allowed to play in this club again," Dave said. "Deal!" Daisy said, then she left and walked to school.

But she got in trouble for being late, but Daisy could care less, she had her mind set on training to play aginst Dave, later at lunch Daisy and Chad were talking. "Did you never get to see Dave?" Chad asked, "Yes I did and he accepted my challenge," Daisy said. "What! I can't believe he actually accepted," Chad said, "Yeah we are going to play tomorrow night, that means I have a lot of training to do," Daisy said. "Well I will be rooting you on," Chad said, "Thanks, Chad you are a good friend," Daisy said.

Later that night Daisy did not eat dinner she had too much training to do, she stayed up almost all night trying to figure out a good way to how to shuffle her deck, so she could pull out the nuke card at the right time. 

The next morning Daisy did not sleep at all last night and once again was late for school. She got scolded at for being late, she could care less the only thing that mattered was beating Dave. After school was over Daisy was walking out the door and she saw Dron standing there. "I just want to say good luck on your game tonight," Dron said, "Thank you Mr. Dron, I would like to thank you for helping me become a player," Daisy said. "No problem I am glad I could help, but before you go I want you to have this," Dron said. He handed a crystal knight, "I always use this crystal knight everytime I play and since I am retiring from this work I thought I might as well give it to someone who is going to use it more," Dron said. "Thank you very much, I will see you tonight," Daisy said. 

Later that night, everyone had come to the Gatnuke club to see the game. Daisy was shaking, she was not sure if she could beat the world champion, "If Eddie did it once then I can do it," Daisy thought Then the game was starting. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, I would like to welcome you all to The final game of the night," The Manager said. "We have seen a lot of players tonight, and we would like to thank them and everyone who has come out on this cold winter night, now please welcome back the champion of the of Gatnuke Dave Flint!". "And also welcome the last player of the night who is a Daisy Ludio.". "This should be fun to watch, a level eight and a level hundred," Someone said. "Now players please shake hands," The manager said, Daisy and Dave shook hands and sat down. "Now let the game begin!" the manager said and they shuffled their cards and sat out their knights. Daisy got to go first since she was a lower leveled player. She drew a card with a ten on it, she moved one of her knights ten spaces. Then Dave drew a card with a five on it, he moved one of his knights five spaces. Then Daisy drew a card with a five on it and moved the same knight five spaces, then Dave drew a card with a sword on it and took Daisy's knight off the board. Turn after turn after turn, Dasiy eight Knights off the board and only had two left, Dave had five knights left and no one had drawn a nuke yet. Then Dave took out one of Daisy's Knights, now she only had one left and it was the crystal knight. All of Daves knights seem to have surrounded, Daisy's knight. "You know you could just surrender now and you can still play here at the club," Dave said. "I'm not giving up yet," Daisy said, "Just face it I have already beaten you there is no way you can win," Dave said. "No I have to win for my brother's sake, he beat you once and I will finish what he started," Dasiy said. "Oh I remember you, yeah you are Eddie Ludio sister, I'm sorry to hear about him, but I am ready to end this game," Dave said. It was Daisy's turn, the room got very quiet, there was no way to win. Daisy drew and did nothing for a moment but stare at the card. "Well, what are you waiting for tell us what the card is," Dave said, Then Daisy put down the card, it was a nuke. Then Daisy took all of Dave's Knights off the board, "Now I have won," Daisy said. The whole room cheered and clapped. The manager took off Dave's champion metal and put it on Daisy. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am proud to announce the new champion," the manager said. Everyone stood up and clapped and started shouting Ludio. Daisy was so happy that she won, "Now I have done what Eddie wanted for many years, I am the champion," Daisy said to herself.

Later that night she put her metal on her dresser as she laid down in bed, "Now I can rest because I know now that many people are going to want to challenge me," Daisy said, she turned off the light and laid her head down on the pillow and fell asleep. 

Almost everyone has heard the great story of this game and everyone wants to be like Daisy. the people of Kreadlevill put up a statue of a knight to represent Dasiy's great victory, and that night will live on through many generations, and everyone will remember the name Daisy Ludio the superlative player.
