Seven Seas

Seven Seas

A Poem by J. Patrick Darrow
"

Nauticle tale of yore.

"

Seven seas

Deep and wide is the Great Divide

So full of wondrous things

Within great ships and boats we ride

To see what fortune brings

Through rain and storm and fearsome gale

We traveled far from home

Now lend thy ears to this mariner's tale

'Twill chill thee to the bone

Lightning strikes and thunder roars

We swarm across the deck

The captain screamed, 'Secure the doors'

Then fell and broke his neck

The rigging fouled, and anchor lost

King Neptune on his throne

The ship pulled through, but at such cost

Ten mates; fish pick their bones

So all ye men with adventurous hearts

If ye heed her siren's call

The sea will smash and tear ye apart

Beware the mighty squall

With no more sails, and far less food

We baked in the tyrant sun

Starvation sets a hungry mood

So the boson pulled his gun

We feasted on the first mate's flesh

Grissel and marrow and all

But he was just the first in death

As we enforced the reaper's call

Now I sit with quill in hand

Alone amidst the bones

No hope exists to die a man

God curse ye Davey Jones
