why won't he listen?

Do you recall
Before the fall
About 2 sad years ago
I cried in your lap
You had my back
After our dad became my foe
I am a s**t, he said
I am a b***h
I am a selfish little brat
like my mother

Are you aware
For you I care
More than that tyrant ever could
With him you'd be a toy
By him you'd be destroyed
You would never be understood
You are confused, he says
You don't love God
You have been brainwashed by your
satanic sister

He will not call you his son
He will not stop until he's won our money if you don't let him go

Why would you love a man who
stabs all your wounds again while
he just assumes you can't
think for yourself
and you're headed for Hell
and you're begging for his law obliged help?

I've been thinking that
I'm not good enough
I'm not man enough
I'm not sweet enough
for the love that he gives
to the a*****e that he calls dad
It's driving me mad
I'm going utterly mad
I'm going utterly mad

Ignorance is why... Lack of education... Fear of the unknown... Being locked in a blind box... Choosing pride over love... I'm so sorry. Usually I do not take it upon myself to reply to the questions people ask within their poetry, but this piece has both upset me and completely enraged me. It just utterly breaks my heart to see such suffering. Wishing this wasn't true, but having a feeling through the emotion set within this piece that it is true. Understanding this poem, not through personal experience, but through sympathy, through compassion and a mutual strife to be accepted. Gosh... What is wrong with the world we live in?
