Through the Beggars Eyes

 

 

I know you avoid my corner

With the box

I know you find a detour

So you won’t fall prey to pity

Why?

 

When you have to pass by

You do so,

But avoid all eye contact

Why?

 

Do you feel that avoiding me

Makes you a

Better person?

It is all the worse

When I look searchingly

And you turn away

Why?

 

Have you not

A penny to spare?

For a poor beggar

On that corner you avoid

Why?
