Dad, it hurts.A Poem by Jane Doe
Once upon a time ,
You were all I knew, But now I've left and found out, There's so much better than you. But I didn't leave to spite you, I left for me, I left to have a better chance to make you proud, Don't you see? All the nights I stayed up crying, Won't help me in college, Won't help me in the navy, Come on, that's common knowledge. All the times she screamed and screamed, You just stood back and let her, Now you don't speak to me, But dad I want you to know it hurts. I want you to tell me you love me, Tell me you support me, Why aren't you my dad, Just because now I'm free? Why can't you be happy, That I escaped her, I didn't blame her, But dad I want you to know it hurts. I want you to know I miss you, I wish you were around, But no texts no calls, No letters, not even a sound. So I hope you're doing okay, I hope you think of me, I hope you come back around, Because dad I want you to know I hurt. © 2015 Jane DoeAuthor's Note
