The Arrival

The Arrival

A Poem by CC

It feels different this time.

There is a the usual giddiness, smile that can’t be undone

But there is something else

I am clinging to my caution

Out of self-preservation

And emotional maturity

But creeping in stronger still is a sense of

Gratefulness.

It’s not a matter of wondering

Will this work?

How will this work?

What do I have to do to make this work?

I just know.

It will.

Because he is him.

And me is I.

And we

Are right where

We are supposed to be.

Every little piece

Makes sense

Feels right

Like looking at him

Is illuminating all I’ve ever been

All the men I’ve ever loved

All the paths I’ve ever taken

Because they all led

To you.
