For The Ones Who Love More Than They're Loved

For The Ones Who Love More Than They're Loved

A Poem by CC
"

See yourself.

"

Do you know what makes you beautiful?

Do you know why they feel they have to at least try

Even when they know they could never keep you?

It’s because your heart is open to the whole world

You give yourself freely

Without question

With grace and humility and humor

To any heartbeat you hear

Dancing near yours

It’s because you see the light

In every moment of every day

It’s because you find the joy

In every moment of every day

It’s because the whole room is on one metronome

And you can laugh and change the pace

It’s because your energy fills up every crevice in every dark place

And you don’t do it on purpose

You don’t do it just for the eyes

You do it because you can’t help it

You radiate the sunshine unforgivingly, all the time

And more than that, you help other people see the sunshine

And even more than that

You help other people see

The sunshine was never in the sky

It was always

In them.

So when you sit crying on the bathroom floor

Split open

Photons flying recklessly

Blinding you

That feeling that they gave you

That feeling of wholeness

That feeling of safety

That feeling that they adored every piece

And always would

That feeling

Was always you

They were filled with holes

And you saw them and filled them

And then they bounced back

Right to you

So when you say you miss them

When you say you want them back

When it’s hard to breath and hard to see and hard to think

Put your hand on your chest

Feel it rise

You lost the reflection, dear

But you didn’t lose the sun.
