you wont find cigarettes in the rain

you wont find cigarettes in the rain

A Poem by Everett Dulin
"

"watching myself become emotionally distanced"

"
my roof is tin, so im always
well aware of the storm
and if i listen
ill hear it all there

the thunder, the crack

pitter, patter
patter, pitter

i picked up smoking
once again, cigarettes
smell of an old friend
i assure you,

ill take my six steps back

pitter, patter, pitter
pitter, patter, pitter

my porch is a concrete pad,
and ill stand out there to smoke
where the rain touches my hand
putting out my torch.

id rather hide in the rain

pitter, patter
patter, pitter

in spring, these storms are common
and once again, ive already fallen
im sorry darling, i wont wait it out
im going to stand in the rain

then i will be gone

pitter, patter, pitter
patter, pitter, patter
