second spring

second spring

A Poem by Everett Dulin

old friend,

the air is warming
to all of my surprise
winter shivers still reprise
but theyre bearable this time

its now the second spring
and poppy fields return their peace
daffodil roadsides bloom, awaiting
your daisies that i bring

and when warm sun, touches my skin
a smile comes, one of the few
each flower that blooms
it all reminds me of you

and summer nights will eventually come
with their melancholic memories, soon enough
but so will pondside prairies, and campfire loves
lanterns and mau, the sun who welcomes us

but ill keep in mind to make place
for an old friend, you know the way
and ill be the one, who welcomes the sun
because you would do the same

it will be the second summer
and im sorry i dont speak to you enough
this time ill visit your grave
and we'll talk under dogwood buds

Man, I’m reading this for 10th time maybe and I couldn’t comment at the first I saw. I am so sorry. This is so heartbreaking.
I am here you know that, right?

It's heartbreaking to lose someone so dear because it gives us the flashback of all the memories we would have which is just so sad that you just want to end your life without that person as your life will become meaningless if they don't live with us anymore. But I m sure, they still watch us from above and guide us with evry8single step we take and hint us with some or the other signs which is so true. I lost someone who had such a good soul but I know one thing for sure that i will forever look up to that person and the good deeds of theirs. Nice work, Everret! I really enjoyed reading it. Keep continuing more....
