A Poem by Everett Dulin

i was born a vagrant
stripped of my identity
i was about eight
my parents abandoned me

my younger years
were spent, so introspectively
asking so many questions
looking for that shred of sincerity

i went from
home to house, house to alleyway

so many strangers, who couldn't,
run my cries away

it's a blur now,
that holds me so dearly.
i cant remember birthdays,
but i sure as hell remember

every pleading cry.
for a 15 minute break,
a moment of collapse,
a lesson to take,

so i could ask why, and piece together
whatever's left of me

Oh damn. I hate it when the best poets experience the worst pain. I hate it when we're the same age. You deserve the world, man. YOU DESERVE THE BEST SEASONS IN THE WORLD. You deserve a life as good as your words. You deserve to have your talent rewarded with love.
