lullaby

lullaby

A Poem by Everett Dulin

close those eyes
you won't miss a thing
its already happened
please don't check the sink

sing yourself
a murmured lullaby
have no fear
it was another life

and when the ravens nest
and it's gone quiet
your hummed cries
will too go silent

as it fades
you may hear your cries
youre all alone, just singing
yourself to sleep tonight

a haunting melody is the beat to this piece...And this poem speaks of such intense loneliness. No one near to hear your solemn cries for help. Much like it was for Sylvia Plath...even those who heard were afraid to listen.
