bravo

A Poem by Everett Dulin

and here it is
my final sputtering
aching retching breath
that i hold so dearly

i waited hours
on this grassy amphitheater
that i call my lawn
for my encore tonight

and the woods and winds sing
their whispered goodbyes
the cricket strings
crescendoing my descent

and my final chorus
is my screaming sobbing tonight
my pleading to god
for a single thing to go right
