mammalian freeze response

its been years since our life

    

yet im coming to a relapse

through some fortuitous means

there you are

who knew like this we'd meet

    

my image equivalent

to that of a ghost's

you don't see me here

but god, in this moment

     

you're all i know

in my ephemeral form

i hauntingly reside

i gaze for too long, needing self control

it's supposed to be fight or flight

    

my eyes have

all of the words

if only you'd take

a glance tonight

    

or should things be left unsaid
