A Poem by Everett Dulin

you will never feel wanted
you will never move on
youll force yourself into a cycle
not regretting,
but asking

"what is it i did wrong"

you will blame yourself
for your inflicted curse
youll repeat every moment
grotesquely obsessively
infinitely

to point at the moment you were lost

everyone around you
will either leave you or die
youll be forced to wander
and wonder
and rip at your insides

like it was your own damn fault

youll throw yourself
into that godforsaken loop
so you can remember their touch
so maybe you could feel
but you wont

theyre gone, and youre alone

Dude how the hell we are at the same age?
I can’t help but thinking about your own snow covered way, might be hard to walk. But I’m here you know that, right?
And I hell know that you okay! You are just a poet, so that’s normal!

For the poem,
This is a good candidate to be my favorite. I mean, so deep and in the overthinker’s mind. So hard on yourself, full of blame.
Dark.
Powerful.
Title did the job again

This really hit me. I am of that age at which I am losing so many friends to illness or older age.
And then I think back to those lost many years ago, who died too soon.
As Neil Diamond sang..."being done too soon"
a very sad piece....and a question many of us might ask...What did I do wrong to lose all these people close to me? Is it somehow my fault?
lots of feeling in this write.
