the curse

the curse

A Poem by Everett Dulin
"

it involves experiences and their value, the more you see the more you will find. The more that will appeal to you. The less of a probability you will find what you want.

"
darling,

im writing to tell you that
im thinking, and i
just want to thank you
for leaving.

for your message,
im sorry its too late.
your worries, my dear
its a headache.

thumbed migrants
leave me aching,
knowing
i cant stay.

to think we had it,
is a mistake.
i want to keep you,
but its too late.

ill march down the highway,
and ill hitch past the interstate,
and ill rewrite this letter,
then ill try to forget you for my sake.

theres nothing left,
ill say.
please dont rebute.
spare me the heartache.

goodbye my dear,
im leaving.
i told you i'd wait,
but its too late.

You can be late for people while they are alive. I don't like the Pollyanna perspective of some people that "as long as you are alive there is hope", at least not for relationships. Not for people. You can be late for people. Once your heart grows cold or your words become too sharp, there may be no turning back. In human relationships there is always no hope as long as you are alive. Because everyone's enthusiasm is limited to a certain point.

i loved the last part too. genius my friend!
