to be free/the things that ive seen

to be free/the things that ive seen

A Poem by Everett Dulin
"

for my brother

"
if you listen closely,
there is a whisper.
from the end,
calling you home,
telling you to live.

and i was always attentive
to those words, like worlds
forever lost in orbit.
a stranger i seemed, amongst
crickets and their chirping.

their little symphonies,
weren't for the likes of me.
they called to each other,
i was called to the sea,
there's something more,

than cricket cabarets.
to find those voices,
is my destiny.
if that means running forever,
it means i lived freely.

because each time,
that i hear its calling.
the chorus around me,
starts dissolving
and I finally feel peace.
