an older poem i have

an older poem i have

A Poem by Everett Dulin

the sidewalks pandemonium
the street's mortal excess
a skeleton beggar on the corner
who knew this week would be so festive

i walk back home
drunken in those streets
a fable told again and over
a lesson god has to teach

the asphalt bumps
over potholes and graves dug
i followed for hours
until it seemed enough

to find myself home
to never step inside
my soul bound to the flask
bottled love is enough, fine
