texts from a parent ive never had

texts from a parent ive never had

A Poem by Everett Dulin

hey you
ive seen youve
done some growing
i wish the world could see

have you made friends?
i bet they love you
oh you havent?
youll always have time for that

do you have a girlfriend?
thats fine, youll find the one
it can wait
be patient for love

you have a job?
im glad youve found
something meaningful
to drive out constant sound

please check in
call me sometime
you arent alone
i know how hard you try

im here for you
if you find anything troubling
youll always be my son
i love you

I always have found texting as something so impersonal...and this poem relates that effect...when a parent and child have really no heart connection at all....but one or the other or both struggle to find one.
