glutton.

glutton.

A Poem by Everett Dulin

where is your pride?
point to it.
is it with your sodden entrails?
within your carcass it resides?

is it laying with your bones,
in a shallow mass grave,
a dew covered tarp?
could i have a taste?

can i swallow your lust?
with your gritty nails and keratin,
with your fleshy lies,
your spongy clothes soaked with sin.

i need your envy.
to quell my appetite,
i see it so very clearly.
why do you lie?

is it death you fear?
as if you didn't live enough.
delicious beautiful greed,
its texture i just love.

oh to die here,
an ever pleasant facade.
you being of sloth,
i promise i wont be rough.

show me your wrath.
your corpse wont be enough,
to satiate my self worth.
you bleed such a pure love.

this persona terrified me. more than a cannibal, the speaker is gluttonous and wants more than just your flesh. this wolf want to kill you and then drag you to hell, like in an Angela Carter fairytale. it is spooky stuff, and just the sort of scare i love.
