The stages of heartbreakA Poem by filizakkayaDo not hold my hand like you used to Your touch would burn me too much Do not kiss me anymore For with no love, it means nothing As you told me what I feared the most I braced myself for the times to come But brace yourself as much as you want The hurt does not dissever so easily It laches onto your soul Sucking out the life in you Leaving nothing but a hollow shell Broken, neglected and lost… The ocean still moves back and forth Life goes on, Everyone moves forward While you stay put Trying to pick up the pieces of what was took As you begin to lose the best parts of you They’ve won; they got the best of you You have to stop it after some time You begin to heal The wounds that were once so fresh start to stich up Sadness turns to anger anger leads to acceptance When you accept you grow You learn to forget, but never forgive They left you, you think They deserve to be forgotten To become nothing more than a few memories Trying to remember the bad, to forget the good © 2012 filizakkaya |
