MemoryA Poem by filizakkayaIn a bucolic town on the mountaintops There sat a comely bungalow An evanescent light would enlighten the trees and the
riverbanks The most tranquil time of the day Despite the ethereal view there was a constant shadow Slaughtering all the beauty near. A crow screeched in the graveyard Darkness gloomed even in the light Out of the shadow a hand gripped me Pulling me deeper and deeper into the pit The fire roared with wrath As it gathered strength it stood up fully I looked around for help Begging, summoning with no avail The darkness was closing in on me The monster left the shadows into the light Its scabbed body shining under the bright sun Fear filled my body as I grabbed my sword Swinging it back and forth Aiming at its heart I needed to kill the beast Put out the darkness and fill it with light The dragon roared leaving nothing but ashes I ducked as the fiery fire grew Unswerving towards its center My sword piercing its unyielding surface Its stinging cries echoing in ears A loud clump and it clattered on the earth Its breathless body now a distant memory. © 2012 filizakkaya |
