Helen of TroyA Poem by filizakkayaI once read that Helen’s face could launch a thousand ships That man from all around the globe Would kneel at her feet and beg for her allure That ships would sail through storms and maelstroms Just to catch a glimpse of the beauty that is Helen of Troy. Gods would gaze down and admire her And cast down shadows on all who dared get too close The earth would crackle with the passion of the deities And wars would arise through the midst of these things A single mortal, Bringing about a destruction An upheaval that disturbed the peace To me you are Helen of Troy. You came in to my life Made me sail through storms and maelstroms I may not have the power to send 60 ships As Agapenor did Or send an army to fight in a battle What can I offer you, you say? My dying love and devotion. To me, you are Helen of Troy … © 2012 filizakkayaReviews
