FlameA Poem by Dark Heart of WinterLove is like a flame... it burns and warms and protects and consumes.
I.
I watch you give away your beauty To filthy thieves that come and steal it away with lustful eyes Then trample it to dirt with their mouths when they cannot own you. Someone insults your honour crass b*****d, die with your mouth open! Only I am allowed to defile your memory with bitter thoughts and unspoken words behind my tongue that melt away under your gaze Run my nails down the marks others left Under your soft silk skin Caressing the one i left to make you mine More so than all the others. II. Flushed and pleading with naked eyes My heart aches with boiling love Then you leave again, I'm left alone With all my doubts and temptations. My love is like a flame in heat Burning like a hundred thousand stoves With passion and longing for you. But just as fierce is my jealousy When you call yourself another man's Then the fire threatens to consume our love And die to ashes. But i would never scorch your fragile skin Even if i must warm your liar's bed You feed justifications to the roaring blaze I crackle and spit out angry reminders Charred remnants of the past you tried to burn. But bring your enemies near And i will devour them, melt their bones With mindless heat of love. When your cold shadows come to haunt you I will keep them away Whilst you sleep under my warmth. I will keep you warm forever Though others will leave you cold. You wander off again I will wait for you to stumble Then gather you up again, patiently A halo of flame My doubts may smoulder long But stay, and tend the fire And they will burn away Leaving only the pure white flame Of my love for you. © 2014 Dark Heart of WinterReviews
