Following Through

Following Through

A Poem by Fighter/Lover

the tears stream down her dirty face

the pain is increasingly getting worse

she notices the knife across the room

she opens it taking in the gleam of the blade

she holds it to her soft white skin

hoping if she does this the pain will subside

she tries to focus her attention on the music in the background

but the words fade and blur into each other

the knife is pressed in hard

all she has to do is follow through

getting closer to the greif that's causing the pain

the tears overflow and flood her face

warm, dark red blood slides down her arm

lying her head against the wall

she just lets the tear and blood roll

she blinks her eyes trying to clear the images

the blade is pressed against her skin again

she follows through many more times

the pain is minimal now

the blade is lying beside her in a pool of blood

cuts all the way up her arm

barely feeling anything anymore

painless bliss finally acheived

she closes her eyes to rest for a minute

the sounds are slowly fading away completely

she drifts off into painless bliss forever
