Bullet From A Gun

A Poem by Fighter/Lover

"
Sticks and stones
No broken bones
Words crash around like waves
Never do I listen, yet always do I hear
The sound that shatters glass,
The bullet from a gun.

I can build invisible walls
Or withdraw into myself.
And if I did would you think less of me than before?
Rushing wind, it carves its path
The bullet from a gun.

Whispers behind plastic smiles casting a judgmental glance.
If I keep looking forward,
I'll never see,
Always notice steady clockwork throbbing
It finds its mark.
The bullet from a gun.
