Chip Away

Chip Away

A Poem by Catherine

chip away at soft melodies and tied-up shoelaces new.

chip away at your nails,

your face-

fast pace-

until you’re veins stain blue.

dive deep within your soul to find its heart and kiss her so.

and while you’re there,

say a prayer-

because you know,

oh, you know-

if not,

you’ll splinter, lost in air.

and chosen not, your body fades, as ash and guilt make ignite.

but I see you there,

amongst the prayer,

and so I kiss you a goodnight.
