No Soldier, No WarA Poem by The Fiddley Scrawler - A Blog by Prema TataA dedication to Capt. Saurabh Kalia and his comrades, martyrs of Kargil war... Scrawled On:Tuesday, 27th November 2012
I shall tell my son,
Be not a soldier, No glory in any battle won, This country's pride may you not shoulder. What grudge have I? On citizens of an enemy country, Who I never did meet to vie, No enmity nor love I feel in bounty. For what and for whom then, Are you turning martyr?
These battles and wars amen! With no sound reason to charter. These are battles not of honour, But of hidden diplomatic interest, Of selfish means to further, Your life is far precious than in these hands to vest. What LOC and what post to guard? When our hearts are open to global fervor. Therefore, I shall tell my son hard, Be a citizen of good heart, be not a soldier. © 2013 The Fiddley Scrawler - A Blog by Prema Tata |
