Sugar-coated Tongues

Sugar-coated Tongues

A Poem by The Fiddley Scrawler - A Blog by Prema Tata
"

Of pretense and outward show... Scrawled On: Wedneday, 25th April 2012

"
Be forewarned my dear friend, one and all!
The honey-coated words written in your favor, do enthral;
With undying amazement have I read such messages, oft on your wall,
For, the same tongue that greets you now, had the gall
To cluck not such pleasantries of you behind your back, after all!

Though not hazardous these white lies, to debate and hold,
Still, it'd do you well to beware the one in a chameleon fold;
All that glitters is not gold;
The superficially fun persona might not be all that good,
And an outwardly rigid one isn't all that bad.

The one I refer to can identify self with a little soul-search,
And the one I warn, ask not names, the other's trust I cannot breach
