Burning Candle

Burning Candle

A Poem by Flame DM
"

Just a question that I pondered...

"

I was sitting down all day.

My mind pondering on one thought.

It was a question many have asked,

But its an answer that cannot be bought.

What's the meaning of life,

And why are we all here?

All of us are so very different,

Man, female, straight, or queer

What gets us to get up every morning,

When so many of us die?

Who makes the choices of life and death,

I'm sure it aint easy as pie.

Some are born strong and some aren't,

Is there a reason, a special why?

Some have no purpose and drift,

While others are born to fly high into the sky.

Philosphers can feed me answers,

But I doubt that would make me happy.

Hallmark claims they have the answer,

But all I see is something corny and sappy.

No answer comes to me as I sit and write,

All i see is a candle burning ever so bright.

Its flames flicker and dance all around,

And I think now I see the light.

Yor cannot question purpose,

As much as you question a flame.

A candle just is and lets itself be,

It doesnt get mad or find blame.

Life for a candle is so simple,

Dance around and be free.

Knowing spoils the magic of life,

Its something that should just 'be'.

Life is too short so love what you have,

Do not question when the light flickers out.

Life has no given answer but just to live,

Be what you really are that's what its about.

This is a beautiful piece with great rhythm and meaning. You used something as simple as a candle to help us all come to terms with the fact that for some things, there is just no real answer. A wonderful idea, put into a stunning poem. Amazing.

Keep up the excellent work, and please try to ignore my use of many, many adjectives! :)

Great philosophers have pondered such as this for centuries, and it as you say, for who really has the answers? Who is right, and who is wrong? It is proven theories, and the opinon of each that rules.
Good perspective!

a bit boring and repeating same ole ideas, but if you could bring this to life with some originality,
passion, you could capture the audience, there is a few type os' and grammar snags, you may want to
read over this, all in all not bad, the talent is there and i could see this turning into a masterpiece
with more effort on quality and vividness, great job.

Niceee write Flame! for every damn Hallmark read was like reading a damn fortune cookie, never meant crap in the end. It never was right. Simply a bunch of corny and sappy words.
Bu heck, I think the Cowboy said it best. I don't believe there is an answer either it's more of your own choice and you do what you want during the time given to you. Ah and candles seem to burn forever... but sooner or later they will die out you know, Flame.

An age old question my friend, loved this poem, and what a wonderful object a simple candle is. A candle can convey so much meaning. Nice job my friend.

This is such a wonderful questions, I mean when we look into a mirror and no matter how deep we look we still don't know who we really are or what makes us the way we are. I like this it shows how each of us is different. A very well presented write with a great burning question.

You ponder the greatest question in the world... unfortunately I don't believe there is no answer... in the end every individual must decide not why they are here but what they want to do with the time spent here... the world is made up many different kind, if not life would be boring and many things would not get done... in the end no matter your place in life we are all equally important in our own way.
