Hungry Hullucinations

A Poem by R.F Gooding

Hungry Hallucinations

I’m so hungry I’m starting to see bread.

Stacked with bacon, lettuce, tomato what’s wrong with my head?

Lunch meat and fried chicken appear and then leave.

Desserts teasing me, no cake no ice cream.

I imagined a fancy meal not made of play-dough.

Succulent steak and buttered mashed potatoes.

A Philly cheese steak with a side of corned beef.

A giant bowl of macaroni and cheese.

I imagine myself eating cold food.

It made so hungry when I thought of soul food.

Chips started to float, hot flamins and hot fries.

My stomach starts to grumble thinking off fried chicken thighs.

I got a hankering for Canadian bacon.

I want something spicy, I’m thinking Jamaican.

I see pastries someone has been baking.

I’m sick and tired of these hungry hallucinations.
