The Day I Die

The Day I Die

A Poem by R.F Gooding

The day I die millions will cry.

My soul will fly but my body will lie still.

So cold and pale that you could feel its chill.

I look down and frown on those who doubted me.

I give thanks to those who surrounded me.

I truly believe that others could see the endless possibilities that come when one is done and free.

Drowning alone up in a sea yet still I could feel and breathe.

The day I die my mother will cry.

I will struggle thinking,” How will she survive?”

I will hope she learns to live her life and live it right oh that would be a lovely sight.

Like a child learning to ride a bike.

The day I die I’ll ask god why but I’ll be shy.

All the lies that I have spoken have left my mouth bone dry.

I’m down on my knees begging lord please I am all giving son.

I’ll do anything for this day not to come.

The day I die I’ll become a spy or maybe a French guy.

The only thing I’ll have to say is goodbye.
