I Saw A Leaf FallA Poem by Ferras K
Drifting, floating down
Last leaf of the fall descends To join her sisters How strange I should dream Of dead leaves and winter come In this summer heat Not of monsoon rains From southern seas far, so blue Drifting, floating down For the longest time, I watched The last leaf falling Now bare branches stab At the blue sky, like fingers Angry, accusing Aggrieved from their fate Their nakedness, winter's cold Drifting, floating down I watched the last leaf falling Graceful, slow descent Then came a cold wind Rustling as the dead leaves danced In the autumn breeze I lost sight of her As she danced with her sisters Drifting, floating down Witness was I of the last leaf And her silent fall Though 'twas just a dream It brought teardrops to my eyes Lonely in her fall That joyous reunion That dance, in death, full of life I saw a leaf fall In a dream last night © 2012 Ferras K |
