Better Than Yesterday

Better Than Yesterday

A Poem by Ferras K

Soon this day will be yesterday

I will hide
In the shelter that is my mind
and if the demons still follow

I shall slay them

One by one
In dreamlands where

I am Creator

       and Destroyer

I am the sun in the sky

I am the sky that captured the moon

       and the stars

       and won't let go

I am the night that hides the light

I am the vacuum holding the universe in place
I am King of this boundless realm
I am every heart that beats
I am the air that sustains
I am the bottomless ocean
I am the snow-capped peaks that line the horizon
I am the valleys that stretch out below in luscious green
and the rivers that meander them

I am the floods that ravage

       and bringer of fertility

and the earthquake that shakes, unstoppable

I am greed that corrupts

I am that loathsome hate

       and creeping fear

I am the lust never filled

I am the jealousy that eats
       and pride that will fall

I am the failure that bites

I am the mistakes that teach
I am the sweetness that is success

I am the blessed

       and the damned

I am the lover

       and the beloved

I am everything

       and nothing all at once

I am the dreamer

       and the dream

       And I feel stronger today
