![]() The Grinning ChairsA Poem by Ferras K![]() this is what happens when you get bored at work. you start seeing things :)![]()
''What are you staring at?'' I said
To the three chairs in front of me So bright and cheery In their reddish pink glow And just the way the morning light Fell on them They seemed to be grinning A mischievous grin ''And what's with those stupid smiles you've got,'' I added Then I thought, ''Oh God! Help me. I am going mad.'' And as though they could read my thoughts They kept grinning Their mischievous grins ''Ahhh! I can't take this anymore,'' I said I got up and left A change of scene I sought So into the next room, I walked Oh! Horror of horrors! The greeting that I got Rows and rows of cold black stares From rows and rows of black rusted chairs And in the dim light, they seemed to ask ''What do you want, intruder? Are you unwanted like us? Leave us and avoid regret.'' I sensed I was not wanted In their circle of deathly glumness ''Maybe this will cheer you all,'' I thought As I pulled the curtains from the windows The screams of agony still haunt me ''Leave us alone, you fool! What do you know of sorrow? What do you know of pain? Go shine your light On those with lesser minds'' I barely made it out of there With my sanity intact I got back to my old cushioned chair Shaking with unbridled terror Those three chairs still with their stupid smiles And as I sat there in front of them Trying my best to calm myself It slowly dawned on me I felt my lips curl into the widest possible grin I thought my head would fall off As the revelation hit me And there we sat Grinning at each other © 2013 Ferras K |
