Let The Fire Burn

Let The Fire Burn

A Poem by Ferras K

A change is coming
I don't know if my heart should sing
To that place I love, I am heading
I wonder if it would be the right thing

Which of us can see beyond the horizon?
I would not mind if they shared their visions
Everybody knows that what is done, is done
But I need to know if I'll be happy with what is done

The future beckons in my dreams, endless
What if it turns out a nightmare, endless?
What if I pushed the envelope just to watch it burn?
What if I am left with nowhere to turn?

Doubt rises like the waters of a raging flood
I feel these old fears baying for my blood
My stomach churns with moths, butterflies long dead
My legs grow heavy, becoming pillars of lead

But this voice in the middle of a raging storm
A rock amidst this crumbling resolve takes form
I hear it speak deep inside my heart
Calming and soothing from the start

''Why do you fear these winds of change?
The only thing ever constant is never strange
Why do doubts drown out your desire?
Why desire if you won't forge them with fire?''

So let the fire burn
Let it consume
Fears and doubts up in fumes
Let them burn
And feed the flames with resolve
With the winds of change, evolve
