![]() Bridges Are Not WingsA Poem by Esther![]() 9/27/16 -- I miss you.![]() And my dad's car smells of gasoline, But I have always kind of liked this smell. I am trying to count the white dashes on the highway in hopes of forgetting you But you are engraved in every fiber of my being. I glance out the car window and I see no moon in the sky, I see no stars, I see nothing that shows we are connected in any way. Are you searching too? When I was young I always believed when we drove on highway bridges We were flying-- Flying to where? I did not know. All I knew then was how wonderful the thought of flying away from this life would be. I know now that I would give anything for those highway bridges to be wings, And my destination to be you.
